eBay fees per item

Step-by-step working
  1. Sale total for fees = item + shipping = $30.00
  2. Final value fee = $30.00 × 13.6% = $4.08
  3. Per-order fee = $0.40 (order over $10.00)
  4. Total eBay fees = $4.48
  5. Profit per item before one-off costs = $25.52 − $14.00 = $11.52
  6. ROI = ($11.52 × 1 − $0.00) ÷ $8.00 = 144%

Pre-filled rates are from eBay selling fees (US), checked on 27 October 2026. Fees vary by category, country, plan and over time, so enter your own rates if they differ. Results are estimates. Fixed per-order fees and the tier limit are in US dollars, so switch the currency to USD for eBay.com. Results are estimates: actual eBay fees depend on your category, store subscription, seller performance and the final order details.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the default rates come from?

From eBay’s official selling fees pages for eBay.com, for most categories with no store subscription, checked on 27 October 2026. Some categories (for example certain clothing, collectibles, jewellery or business equipment) and store subscribers pay different rates, so change the fields to match your case.

Should postage count as investment?

Here postage is treated as a selling cost deducted from profit, and the investment is the money spent buying stock plus one-off costs.
