eBay Shipping Calculator

Because eBay charges its final value fee on shipping too, charging the buyer exactly your label cost still leaves you slightly short. Compare charging for shipping with free shipping, and find the item price that gives the same result.

Step-by-step working
  1. Charging $7.50 shipping: fees $6.18, you keep $36.32 − $8.30 = $28.02
  2. Free shipping: solve for the item price where payout − label − packaging = $28.02
  3. Free-shipping price ≈ $42.50

Pre-filled rates are from eBay selling fees (US), checked on 27 October 2026. Fees vary by category, country, plan and over time, so enter your own rates if they differ. Results are estimates. Fixed per-order fees and the tier limit are in US dollars, so switch the currency to USD for eBay.com. Use the Shipping Cost Calculator to estimate the label cost from parcel size and weight.

How to use the eBay Shipping Calculator

  1. Enter the item price, the shipping you would charge and your label cost.
  2. Check the fee rates, then press Calculate.
  3. Compare what you keep, and see the price to list at with free shipping.

Formula

You keep = item price + shipping − eBay fees on both − label − packaging

Free-shipping price = the price P where P − eBay fees on P − label − packaging equals what you keep when charging shipping.

Examples

  • 35 item + 7.50 shipping, label 7.50, packaging 0.80, default rates: you keep 28.02; with free shipping list at about 42.50 for the same result.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the default rates come from?

From eBay’s official selling fees pages for eBay.com, for most categories with no store subscription, checked on 27 October 2026. Some categories (for example certain clothing, collectibles, jewellery or business equipment) and store subscribers pay different rates, so change the fields to match your case.

Why do I lose money on shipping I charge at cost?

eBay’s percentage fee also applies to the shipping charge, so about 13.6% of it (on the default rate) goes to fees.
