How to use the EMI Calculator
- Enter the loan amount (principal).
- Enter the annual interest rate.
- Choose years or months and enter the tenure.
- Press Calculate.
Formula
EMI = P × R × (1 + R)ᴺ ÷ ((1 + R)ᴺ − 1)
P = principal, R = monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100), N = tenure in months.
Examples
- Home loan of ₹10,00,000 at 8.75% for 20 years: EMI ≈ ₹8,837; total interest ≈ ₹11.2 lakh.
- Car loan of ₹6,00,000 at 9.5% for 60 months: EMI ≈ ₹12,601.
Frequently asked questions
Does a longer tenure reduce my EMI?
Yes, but you pay interest for longer, so the total interest rises sharply. Compare the totals, not just the EMI.
What happens if I prepay?
A part-prepayment reduces the outstanding principal. Banks usually let you lower either the EMI or the remaining tenure; lowering the tenure saves more interest.
Is processing fee included?
No. Add any processing fee and insurance separately to understand the full cost.
