Formula

Hours = (end − start, + 24 h if overnight) − break. Decimal hours = total minutes ÷ 60, so 7 h 15 min = 7.25 h.

Examples

  • 09:00 to 17:45 with a 30-minute break = 8 h 15 min = 8.25 hours.
  • 22:00 to 06:00 = 8 hours overnight.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?

Divide by 60: 15 min = 0.25 h, 20 min = 0.33 h, 45 min = 0.75 h.
